ALBANY, NY – On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, First New York Federal Credit Union will present Catholic Charities Tri-County Services with a donation of thousands of toilet paper rolls transformed into several large Christmas trees. Together, both organizations will dismantle the trees and take the toilet paper donations to Catholic Charities Tri-County Services’ five Capital Region food pantries and two soup kitchens.

  • Wednesday, December 11, 2024, 10:00 AM
  • First New York Headquarters, 2 Wall Street, Albany, NY 12205

This is an excellent video and photo opportunity. That morning, we will knock down the toilet paper trees, creating a unique cascade of toilet paper rolls, and start moving the considerable pile out to Catholic Charities Tri-County Services. See photos from year’s past below:

This charitable gift will help Catholic Charities Tri-County Services accommodate the 15-20% increase in individuals requiring their services. More specifically, it will help local families and individuals in most need and unable to receive personal care items under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

“The team and members of First New York Federal Credit Union are such a gift to the greater Capital Area Community with this simple gesture of a roll of toilet paper!” said Catholic Charities of the Albany Diocese CEO Sister Betsy Van Deusen, CSJ.  “The longevity of this partnership is a testament to a huge number of people recognizing that we can, by our small acts of kindness, offer real help to our neighbors with both dignity and compassion.”

“For the past eight years, First New York Federal Credit Union has consistently shown their remarkable generosity and commitment to our community through their annual Toilet Paper Drive. We are incredibly thankful to the entire First New York team for rallying their employees and members to support this cause,” said Jenn Hyde, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Tri-County Services. “Your contributions make a real difference, and our clients are truly grateful. These donations will be distributed to our five food pantries and two soup kitchens across Albany and Rensselaer Counties, helping both urban and rural families in need.”
